Our Foundation
Right now, my wife is barely able to walk. She has arthritis in the joint of her big toe, on her right foot. While the remainder of her body is healthy, she is crippled by such a minor malady, but one that is part of the foundation upon which her body stands.
Our spiritual lives are built on the foundation of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is our Rock. He will never have a malady that weakens our foundation. When the storms of life come against us, we have no reason to fear; we can weather the storm, for our foundation is unshakeable.
[Jesus said,} “Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock.”
- Matthew 7:24-25
It saddens me to see my wife struggle and to hear her cry out in pain each time she stands or walks. If we are troubled by doubt or struggle against some great difficulty, we can trust that Jesus, our foundation, will never fail.
