I’m no drip!

Dad Joke: What do you call an expert? A drip under pressure. 🙁

I heard or read a philosophical statement that essentially said, “We are all like drops of water to be merged into the sea of humanity.” That sounds nice, but I disagree. So, I wrote my confession of faith in Jesus. I hope it is similar to yours. I think it’s important for all of us to know what we believe; it’s a good exercise. Maybe you should give it a try.

I am not a drop of water to be merged into the sea of humanity. Instead, I am a person; an individual created in God’s image while being unique within His creation. God knows me, personally, and I will know Him forever, even more than I know Him now.

My destiny is not to become an undefined part of some greater whole. I am because of God’s intent; therefore, I rest in my relationship as an adopted child of the Great “I Am” and enjoy the purpose, protection, provision and promises He gives, for His good pleasure, to me through my established, yet ever growing, relationship with Him.

My personhood and position in Christ are not things that I have worked for and accomplished. My adoption was through no achievement of my own. I have received this freely, from Jesus, as a gift, the cost of which I cannot begin to understand.

Jesus, God’s only begotten Son, is my Redeemer, Savior, Lord, and King. Through His mercy, grace and shed blood He has made me His brother.

Through Christ’s death on the cross, He took and fulfilled the penalty that was mine to pay. And, Jesus rose from the dead for death could not keep Him separated from life for He is the Way, the Truth and the Life.

Through Christ’s resurrection, He has made way for me to overcome death and not be separated from Life so I will live with Him forever in the place He has personally prepared for me.

Though Jesus physically left this earth and returned to His Father, He did not leave me or any of his own as orphans but He sent the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Godhead, to be with me and in me so I would know what is true and I would have true life now and forever.

All I have done is to surrender that which had no value, to turn away from that which caused me death, to receive adoption through my confession of what already was and to believe that which was already true.

I am not a drop of water to be merged into the sea of humanity. I have a home, built by God. I did not earn this home and yet I have it and have no on-going expenses for it, no taxes, no mortgage, no maintenance. All the cost has been paid for by my friend Jesus. I understand, at least in part, what Joseph Cornelius Ludgate was saying when he wrote:

Friendship with Jesus!
Fellowship divine!
O what blessèd, sweet communion!
Jesus is a Friend of mine.

None of these have I earned nor could I. Nevertheless, it won’t surprise me when I arrive at my home to see a sign on the door that reads: Welcome citizen of the Kingdom of God, child of the Most High, friend of Jesus.

“So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” Galatians 3:26-28NIV
